Jake Hafner's Restaurant & Tavern
About This Spot
Stepping into Jake Hafner's Restaurant & Tavern, you’re greeted by a welcoming pulse that feels like a familiar nod to the best of neighborhood dining. The space strikes an easy balance between classic tavern warmth and a comfortably unhurried vibe, inviting you to settle in without any rush, whether you’re here for a quiet meal or catching up with friends over a few drinks.
The mood here is relaxed and familiar — the kind of atmosphere where the friendly back-and-forth with attentive staff feels genuine, and regulars mingle with newcomers as effortlessly as the evening light softens the room. It’s a place where a good conversation flows as easily as the craft beers on tap, including the unfiltered IPA that has quickly become a local favorite.
Food here mirrors that spirit of generous, honest fare made with thoughtful attention. You might find yourself drawn to something hearty like Jake’s Prime Rib or the dinner-sized Reuben, each dish carrying comforting familiarity but with subtle twists that reveal a cook’s care — like the crispy edges on the traditional chicken parmesan or the seasoning that sets the Cajun burger apart. For those quieter moments, the house bread and the warm glow of a bowl of French onion soup offer a simple, satisfying start.
Beyond the plate, the tavern lives in the details: the laughter that drifts from the bar, the clink of glasses, and the quiet appreciation of a well-poured beer or a generously loaded order of fries. Revisiting feels natural here because it’s not just about filling up; it’s about finding a place where the good flavors and the easy atmosphere meet the kind of warmth that invites you to linger a little longer.

Really good place. Service was very nice. No rush and no wait for seats. Bar is nice as well. My prime rib was ok. A little bit too thick but good flavor. The French onion pull apart bread was very tasty. Will be back to try other items on the menu.

We love this place! Food was excellent--my son said it was the best steak he'd ever had. It all sounded so good that I had a hard time deciding, but the special that the waiter recommended was delicious. We love the atmosphere and the staff makes you feel like you're a regular! Highly recommended!

Over the years, I had heard that Hefner's restaurant had a good reputation. I'm sorry I waited so long to visit the restaurant for the first time because we had a very enjoyable lunch there. I ordered buffalo shrimp as an appetizer with ranch dressing for dipping. The fried shrimp were coated with a tangy buffalo sauce dipping it in the ranch dressing maybe think that maybe shrimp was better with buffalo sauce than chicken. This was followed by a Reuben sandwich with came with potato chips. I requested an extra side of Russian dressing to dip the sandwich in it was excellent. The dark bread was toasted nicely, the cheese was fully melted, and there was and abundance of thinly sliced very lean corned beef. As good as my lunch was, my wife ordered a scallops which proved to be outstanding. She chose to have them broiled and they came out cooked through, not raw in the center as we've experienced the number of restaurants, and sweet and tender. Perfect.

Had an appointment in Liverpool so I googled restaurants in area and Jake Hafner's was the first tavern to pop up. So we tried it and so happy we did. Hubs got crab stuffed shrimp with a side of rice and side salad. Salad was huge. He said ut was very good and he was full after. I had the shaved steak sandwich w fries and order a side of mac n cheese. While the shaved steak was a little crunchy due to being over cooked, the au jus made up for it. Such flavor. The mac n cheese was really delicious, Hubs said it reminded him of what his mom made. Large beer and wine selection. Our waitress was wonderful, young man came around several times asking how everything was. If an empty dish sat on the edge, staff was quick to remove. Inside is very quaint, rustic feel. All around great. Looking forward to going back to try their prime rib

I've been here a few times now, and each visit has been delightful. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive, and the food has been a joy. My wife particularly liked the scallops, while I could happily eat the pork chop on every visit.
